An advocate for every student
Middle school students meet with their advisor four days a week. This faculty member oversees every aspect of his or her small group of advisees' St. Luke's experience. Advisors serve not only as academic counselors but are also concerned with the social and emotional health of their students. Advisory provides our middle schoolers a safe place to dialogue about the relevant issues in their lives.
The advisor serves as a nexus of communication between school and home and is the primary contact for parents. The relationship between this faculty member, the student, and the parents is intended to be a strong and enduring bond. It ensures that every middle school student has an advocate who truly knows him or her as a student, as a St. Luke's citizen, and as a unique individual. Because of the depth of this relationship, advisors also oversee eighth grade chapel talks and are actively involved in secondary school placement.
