Karen McIntire

For the past 48 years, Karen McIntire has devoted her life to serving God through the teaching of His children. She loves St. Luke’s for the way it nurtures a warm sense of community through connections between its families and faculty members, and for the school’s emphasis on educating the whole child-heart and soul, mind and body. With 28 years of experience in Kindergarten, she loves seeing the “Aha!” moments when her young scholars learn something new or master a challenging skill. The H-E-B Excellence in Education Foundation honored Karen’s dedication and mastery of her craft with their Lifetime Achievement award, which is presented annually to the state’s most outstanding teachers. As a mother of three and grandmother of five, Karen enjoys combining creative, meaningful, fun, real-life classroom experiences with her passion for education to inspire both children and their parents during the transformative years of Early Childhood. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dallas and Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Texas A&M University. Karen’s hobbies include reading, traveling with her husband Bill, spending time with her grandbabies, and supporting her beloved Texas Aggies.
