Opening the School Year in Unity
St. Luke’s Opening Convocation marks the beginning of our school year, serving as a meaningful tradition that unites our entire school community. This annual gathering is more than just a ceremony; it is a powerful symbol of our shared purpose and commitment to each other as we embark on a new academic journey. Convocation sets the tone for the year ahead, reinforcing the importance of our collective purpose and the guiding principles that define St. Luke’s Episcopal School.
At the heart of this convocation are the pillars that we cherish: scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. These pillars are not merely words; they are the foundation of our daily lives at St. Luke’s. Scholarship encourages us to pursue knowledge with curiosity and rigor, citizenship reminds us of our responsibility to each other and the world, and leadership inspires us to take initiative and lead with integrity. During the convocation, these pillars are emphasized as we pledge to uphold them throughout the year, fostering an environment where every student is encouraged to grow in these areas.
A highlight of the Opening Convocation is the special pinning ceremony for our 8th grade class. This tradition celebrates the students’ journey and the leadership they offer to our school community. It is a moment of pride and recognition, symbolizing their growth and readiness to lead by example. As we come together for this event, we embody the spirit of WeAreStLukes, a community that supports, uplifts, and celebrates each other as we strive to live out the pillars of scholarship, citizenship, and leadership in all that we do.
We invite all of you to join us on Wednesday, August 28th at 8:00 a.m. for this special Opening Convocation to celebrate what makes us uniquely St. Luke’s.
In Partnership,
Mike Jenkins, Head of School
