St. Luke's Fills Good Samaritan Community Services' Food Pantry
When Emily Vandewalle of Good Samaritan Community Services spoke to St. Luke’s Episcopal School students in chapel about Good Sam’s critical need for food pantry donations, her audience took the challenge to fill the pantry very seriously. The school amassed over 5,000 nonperishable food items during the weeklong all-school drive, which will help feed hundreds of food-insecure families on San Antonio’s West side.
St. Luke’s middle schoolers had the chance to view the well-stocked pantry in person when they headed to GSCS later that week to serve lunch to seniors at the center, a regular volunteer commitment for SLES students. St. Luke’s frequently partners with Good Sam, which has been fighting poverty and improving lives in San Antonio and South Texas for the past 65 years.
