St. Luke's Episcopal Church and School

St. Luke’s is currently one of the largest congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.  Hundreds of families from San Antonio and the surrounding areas come to worship each Sunday and participate in the many facets of parish life.  Our school families are welcomed as a part of the larger church family.  Our parish's doors are always open to those who want to join in worship, spiritual education, children’s ministry programs, outreach, or any church activity.

The clergy at St. Luke’s have a visible presence in the life of the school.  On many mornings, Rector Fr. David Read joins other school leaders in welcoming arriving students as they begin their school day.  Members of the clergy lead  the school’s weekly Eucharist service and periodically offer chapel talks during daily chapel. They also win the hearts of the students each October by blessing their beloved four-legged, winged, and web-footed family members at St. Luke’s annual Blessing of the Pets.

The hallways and classrooms of St. Luke’s are bustling with children on Sundays as well as during the school week. The church’s children and youth ministry programs provide a range of age-appropriate opportunities, from loving nursery care through activities for high schoolers.  These programs afford meaningful oppoortunities for students to explore and deepen their faith.  The parish also offers first communion and confirmation classes, typically taken in first and eighth grades, respectively.
