William H. “Billy” Atwell II (2013), Chair
Billy is President of Atlee Development, Inc., a real estate company that develops and owns medical office buildings throughout the United States. Raised in San Antonio, Billy attended St. Luke’s Episcopal School as a young child. He is a longtime member of the Texas Cavaliers, an organization of civic and community leaders that supports local children’s charities, and has served that organization as Parade Marshal, Commander and King Antonio LXXXVI. In addition, Billy has served as a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, a commissioner and member of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, and a director of the Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation and the San Antonio River Foundation. Billy is a graduate of Bradford College in Massachusetts. He and his wife, Wendy, have three daughters who attend St. Luke’s — Annie (8th), Cita (7th) and Ally (1st).

Jenifer Brown (2013), Secretary
Jenifer has been a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1996. She is a native of San Antonio and graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in 1996. She has been an active real estate agent since 1998 and is a REALTOR with RE/MAX Preferred. Jenifer has been married to Will since October 1996 and they are the proud parents of St. Luke’s student Claire (1st). Her other board experiences include the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, Friends of Hospice, Chair of Poinsettia Ball, Military-Civilian Club, Cancer Center Council, The Revelers and the Southwest Foundation Forum.

Lou Fox (2014)
Lou Fox is the Assistant to the President for  Community Relations and Campus Security, U. Of Incarnate Word.  He and his wife Kye have been members of St. Luke’s Church since 1994.  He is a former City Manager for the cities of San Antonio, Orange and Lubbock, Tx.  Lou also served as Chair of the Urban Administration Graduate program at Trinity University.  His son Matt is a graduate of St. Luke’s, and his daughter, Sarah is a school psychologist at Jefferson Middle School, NSISD.  Lou serves on numerous boards and commission in the City and Bexar County including:  The SA/ Bexar Co. MPO, San Antonio River North and Midtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones and the Broadway Cultural Arts District.  He holds a Master Degree from the U. Of Kansas, a B.A from the U. of Missouri, and an Associates Degree from Harris Teachers College, St. Louis, Mo.

Albert M. Gutierrez (2013)
Albert is President of the Law Offices of Albert M. Gutierrez, P.C., a civil and criminal litigation law firm based in San Antonio. He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Albert attended St. Mary’s University School of Law (J.D., 1994) and the University of Texas at Austin (B.B.A., Accounting, 1991). He served as Chair of the Board for St. David’s Episcopal School and is a Life Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation. Albert and his wife Christina have three girls attending St. Luke’s – Andrea (5th), Sofia (3rd) and Ava(1st) – and a son, Thomas, attending St. David’s Episcopal School.

Betty Lansdale (2012)
Betty and her husband, Daryl, have been St. Luke’s Episcopal School parents for 11 years; they are the proud parents of Kelsey (8th) and Trey (6th). Betty has served St. Luke’s Episcopal School over the years in many capacities including: Parent Council Vice President of Families, 6th Grade Dance Chair, Get Connected Chair, Marketing Committee, Auction Party Committee, Book Fair Volunteer, Dad’s Night Volunteer, PSIA, Room Parent, and most recently Annual Fund Chair. Betty received her B.B.A. from Texas A&M University in 1989 and her J.D. from the SMU School of Law in 1992.

Howard H. Lutz (2014)
Howard H. Lutz is Senior Vice President and Manager of Amegy Bank Private Banking.  Howard is a life long resident of San Antonio and graduated from Incarnate Word University where he earned an MBA in International Business and received his undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin.  He is actively involved with the San Antonio Downtown Rotary Club,  Development Board at The University of the Incarnate Word, Leadership San Antonio, The Witte Museum, The McNay Museum, the San Antonio Zoo, Young Texans Against Cancer, Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, Bexar County Medical Society, San Antonio Medical Group Management Association, St. Luke’s School Board of Trustees, COSA’s Board (Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio), and First Presbyterian Church.  Howard and his wife Jody have are the proud parents of  Mary Katherine  who is 5 years old and attends St. Luke’s Episcopal School.

Mary Meek McNelis (2014), Vice Chair
Mary served as vice president of KGBTexas Public Relations and Advertising for 10 years where she led the agency’s business development efforts and managed large scale public affairs projects for clients such as the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, the San Antonio River Authority and Brooks City-Base. Prior to joining KGBTexas, Mary did development and fundraising for the San Antonio Museum of Art, Centro Alameda and the Texas Wildlife Association. She holds a masters in non-profit management and an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Mary is also active with Good Samaritan Community Services, an outreach agency for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Mary and her husband Sean are members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and parents of Mary Ella (age 3) and Gage Connell (age 1).

Marlene Merritt (2012)
Marlene has been a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1997 and has been a Vestry member and leader on various committees. Marlene worked for IBM Corporation in various capacities, including marketing management, corporate executive education, and customer strategic planning with Fortune 500 companies. Presently she has a small commercial real estate company. Marlene is active in the community, especially with non-profit groups. She is Treasurer of the Warm Springs Foundation Board, Past chair and advisor on the American Diabetes Board and is past president of the Alamo Heights Rotary Club.

The Rev. David Read, Rector
David became Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church & School on June 1, 2009, after serving more than 10 years as Rector of St. Helena’s Episcopal Church in Boerne. A native of San Antonio, David is a 1988 graduate of Texas State University with a B. A. in History and received a Masters in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1992. David is active in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and serves on the Standing Committee. He is the Diocesan Secretary, a delegate to General Convention, a Trustee of the Church Corporation and a member of the Diocesan Development Board. David is married to Jacqueline and they
 are the proud parents of Amy, who attends TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas (11th), and Aidan, a 7th grader at St. Luke’s Episcopal School.

Mark Reford, D.Phil., Head of School
Mark became the Head of School at St. Luke’s Episcopal School in June 2009. He is the former Head of School at the City Collegiate Public Charter School in Washington, DC and the former Academic Dean at Sidwell Friends School (also in DC). Dr. Reford has consulted with Education Testing Services (Princeton, NJ) and with the Washington, DC, public school system. He has teaching experience in high school and middle school classrooms and has taught at the college level in England and Moscow. He holds a D. Phil., M.S. and B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford, England. He and his wife Lisa are the proud parents of Emma (7th) and Saskia (4th).

Michael Seiferth (2014)
Mike and Ellie have been members of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1995. Mike served on the Vestry of Saint Luke’s for three years. Since moving to San Antonio in 1977, Mike and Ellie have been active in Independent Schools, where Mike taught English at Saint Mary’s Hall and Texas Military Institute. Mike is a member of the Alamo Heights Rotary Club. He attended Don Bosco Preparatory School and graduated in 1961. He attended Rutgers College and Appalachian State University (UNC). He has done Post Graduate work at Lehigh University, UIW, UTSA and LSU. He recently retired as an Associate Professor from Palo Alto College after teaching there for twenty-five years. His appreciation of Saint Luke’s Episcopal School spans three decades when Betty Lou Jones convinced him that Episcopal worship and education were simply “the best”! She is right!

Ryan S. Smith (2014), Treasurer
Ryan S. Smith is a principal owner of the commercial real estate advisory firm, Cross & Company / Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in industrial real estate. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Boysville and the Brackenridge Park Conservancy. Ryan formerly served as President of the St. Mary’s University Forum on Entrepreneurship, on the Board of Directors for the Free Trade Alliance San Antonio and as Live Auction Co-Chair for St. Luke’s Episcopal School. He was also formerly involved with the Rotary International in San Antonio, the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, and the United Way’s Stewardship Review Committee. Ryan is a graduate of Texas Christian University. He and his wife, Tricia, have three children.

Ann D. Wells (2013)
Ann is a CPA in public practice. She has served multiple terms on the St. Luke’s Episcopal School Board of Trustees and has served as Board Chair (twice), Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary of the Board. She also serves as a Director of the SLES Permanent Endowment Fund. Ann has been a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1966 and has served on the Vestry, as Vestry Treasurer and as President of the Women of St. Luke’s. She currently serves as a Trustee of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Permanent Endowment Trust. Ann is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Her children, David Wells and Laura Wells Bowers, are graduates of SLES. Her other Board experience includes Morningside Ministries and the Children’s Shelter.
