Why choose a school that ends in 8th grade?

Why Choose St. Luke’s?

  1. K-8 students show higher GPA’s and achievement test scores (especially in mathematics) while displaying greater self esteem, higher extra curricular participation, greater leadership skills and lower rates of victimization.
  2. K-8 students do not have to face the stress of school transition until more developmentally suited and in turn become thoughtful participants in the transition process.
  3. Discipline and attendance problems are reduced due to the small class sizes and bonds created between the students and faculty.
  4. Data shows K-8 schools score higher on standardized tests.
  5. Analysis shows that better SAT scores of K-8 schools are the artifacts of the student bodies they served and not just the social class.
  6. Parent involvement improves because parents are usually happiest with their children’s elementary school experiences, and therefore are more likely to stay involved in the children’s school lives longer because they are already comfortable with the school and its staff AND because younger siblings/family enroll in the same bldg.
  7. 9th Grade GPA’s credits earned and standardized reading, math, and science scores all tended in the direction favoring k-8 alumni.
  8. K-8 schools foster a sense of community.
  9. K-8 Middle School students take on the role of protector and role model as opposed to having to establish new reputations upon entering middle school.
  10. K-8 students had higher levels of participation in extracurricular activities, demonstrated greater leadership skills, and were less likely to be victimized than those in the elementary/middle school setting.
