These are the ways our students have been successful:

Scholarship

  • Class of 2010 academic statistics from their first year in high school (Alamo Heights, Saint Mary’s Hall, TMI, ISA, Central, NESA, Coppel/Dallas) had 85% of the students in Pre- AP, Honors or Gifted and Talented classes in 2 or more of the core five academic subjects (English, Math, Science, History and language)
  • 79% of all grades earned by the class in their first year of high school were A’s
  • 68% of their grades stayed the same or were higher than their St. Luke’s grades
  • Over that last 3 years, our students have won 3 Alkek Merit Scholarships to TMI, 1 Campbell Scholarship to SMH, 2 Frost Scholarships to TMI and two other merit scholarships to SMH and TMI
  • Class of 2007 – two graduates of St. Luke’s Episcopal School were named National Merit Scholarship Commended students
  • A St. Luke’s student earned a perfect score on the 2009 National Spanish Exam
  • 2011 Latin I Exam (8th Grade): Out of 11 test takers, 5 St. Luke’s students garnered a Gold Medal for summa cum laude; five students garnered the Silver Medal for maxima cum laude
  • In the 2011 State Science Fair, more St. Luke’s Middle School students qualified than any other middle school in San Antonio
  • 2011 – St. Luke’s won the Alamo Heights Latin Convention for the 3rd year in a row
  • 2011 – 10 students placed in the top ten of all students taking the test in their respective categories in the National Spanish Exam in Bexar County
  • A St. Luke’s students took the #1 spot in both 7th & 8th grade categories in the National Spanish Exam in Bexar County

Citizenship

  • Class of 2010 – 32% of the class logged over 100 hours of community service – twice the graduation requirement
  • Class of 2011 – 25% of the class logged 150 hours of community service or more. The class earned over 3000 hours of service in total
  • 2011 – National Junior Honor Society sponsored a letter writing campaign reaching an entire company of 152 Marines in Afghanistan
  • The Tiger Club collected and delivered over 70 bags of food to the Good Samaritan Center at Christmas
  • More than 50 St. Luke’s Episcopal School students, parents, faculty and administrators came out to plant 73 trees in Olmos Basin Park
  • In 2010 and 2011 the National Junior Honor Society raised enough money to drill two wells to provide clean water to two African villages2011 School Penny Wars raised enough money to send a family to Disneyland through the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Leadership

  • 2010-2011 91% of all middle school students participated in at least 1 team sport
  • 95% participation of middle school students in a team sport for 2011-2012 so far

  • 2011 – 2012 school year – over 20 middle school student-led clubs including: Yearbook, Robotics, Latin Club, Tiger Service, Student Voice, CARDiology, School of Rock, Duct Tape, Naturalist Club, Walking Club, Tiger Choir, Crafting, Cooking, KPAW, Art Time Traveler, Photography, Yoga, Outdoor Adventure, Jewelry Making, Math Tourist, Puppeteering, Knitting
