ACADEMICS...

At St. Luke’s Episcopal School, we believe that education is a quest for intellectual development, for personal growth and for the fulfillment of the potential inherent in each student. Along this educational path, we strive to provide optimal opportunities for growth and discovery, a supportive atmosphere and skilled teachers to facilitate each child’s learning.

We teach children to think with critical assessment. We show them how their studies are related to the world in which they live. We demonstrate the qualities of citizenship and leadership we expect they will attain; and, most importantly, we construct our classrooms for active involvement. We seek our students’ points of view and we value their questions. We spend time in dialogue and encourage reflection.

While our primary goals include the mastery of essential skills, we also strive to instill a sense of responsibility, self discipline and respect. To be a citizen who contributes, one must not only have knowledge of mathematics and literature, but also knowledge of cooperation, sound judgement and leadership. While technology enriches our core curriculum, students at St. Luke’s also learn the ethics of technology use.

Physical Well-Being
A healthy body is integral to peak performance in all aspects of one’s life. At St. Luke’s, many opportunities are provided for students to become more physically fit through physical education classes and a wide variety of after school sports. It is our goal to instill a fitness for life philosophy in our students.

We Teach the Whole Child
Our academic and enrichment curriculum is rigorous and challenging, but incorporated into our studies are elements of individuality, community, service to others and self expression. These elements are woven into an integrated education which addresses all aspects of a child’s learning.
