St. Luke's Episcopal School

November 7, 2011

The 2011-2012 school year is off to a great start!

Our inspiring faculty work hard every day to offer our students the finest education in San Antonio. Through daily chapel, creative enrichment programs and quality, one-on-one interaction with teachers, St. Luke’s instills in our children the characteristics of life-long scholarship, dedicated citizenship and confident leadership essential to the development of outstanding and successful young men and women.

We strive for the highest level of excellence, but we always know we can do better. Doing better grows from the close partnership between our creative teachers and our generous supporters.

We have to make sure we are offering the latest technology and most exemplary curricula available in the country. More than that, we know we must empower our teachers with cutting edge, nationally recognized professional development opportunities, so that they can use our resources effectively and imaginatively in their classrooms.  Last year it was this “margin of excellence” that helped every graduating 8th grade student gain admittance to their high school of first choice, and four of them win the most prestigious high school scholarships offered in San Antonio.

St. Luke’s is a timeless place where we are guided by worship, the simple decencies of the St. Luke’s Way, and the classical learning of Core Knowledge. Yet we are not standing still: the school is abuzz with thoughtful innovation at every grade level. I know I don’t need to tell you that such excellence would not be possible without the added support of parents both past and present, alumni, grandparents and special friends.

This year’s Annual Fund Campaign will begin soon. I am delighted to report that the faculty, administrative staff and the Board of Trustees have already hit 100% participation. I ask all of you to join us in making an investment that will help sustain this margin of excellence that sets St. Luke’s Episcopal School apart.

When you are contacted by one of the many volunteer members of our Annual Fund Campaign Committee, I hope that you will respond by making a gift to St. Luke’s.  As leader of this wonderful place, I promise to be a careful steward of your contribution.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Q. Mark Reford
Head of School
