Selby Anderson

Chess

Selby Anderson learned chess from his oldest sister at age nine, but did not get serious about the game until high school. He earned a USCF Expert rating in his senior year (1972-73) and attained the National Master title in 1985. He soon took over the editorship of Texas Knights, the official state chess magazine. His experience with chess in education goes back to 1991, when he taught at his first chess camp in San Angelo. He has run after-school chess programs at several local schools, and conducted week-long summer chess camps around the country with USA Chess.

“Chess is brain food that goes crunch.”
